The schedule of programs tentatively planned for the coming months will be announced soon. Speakers will include Henry Taylor, 1986 Pulitzer Prize-winning poet, who will read from his works and discuss his craft; Natalie Lewis, county resident and sculptor, who will discuss her technique and perhaps exhibit some of her outstanding work; Sarah Buxton, director and chairman of the Drama Department at George Mason University in Fairfax, who will speak about her work.
Other programs are in the planning stage, some of which will include members of the community as well as guests from other areas.
“The library is pleased to offer this series every second Friday of each month through next June as a public service,” said Mitzie Young, chairman of the program committee. There will be no charge for any of the programs, she added.
Some of the events will be held with the cooperation of other groups and organizations in the community. “The focus is on providing an interesting diversion at a regular time each month and to bring another dimension to the services which the library offers to Rappahannock residents, to weekenders (hence the choice of Friday) and to neighbors from the surrounding area who may wish to take advantage of what promise to be enjoyable evenings,” Mrs. Young said.
