At Tuesday night’s session, Chairman Beverly Massie read the October 21 letter. The School Board members agreed to repeat their petition in a second letter which will be delivered to the supervisors’ work session this Thursday. The correspondence will also include estimates on additional expenses relative to the proposed capital outlay project.
(The School Board’s initial letter to the supervisors was discussed and approved at the October meeting. Reportedly, this came after — not in — an executive session for personnel. However, the executive session was the last item listed on the School Board’s agenda, an agenda that meticulously and exhaustively lists such regular business items as call to order, reading and approval of minutes and receipt of the monthly newsletter on educational television. The proposed letter was not on the agenda.)
At the earlier joint work session, the supervisors asked for estimates of associated costs arising from the high school expansion: the expected increases in utility bills and additional staff which will be needed.
