Mrs. Piper stated her appreciation for any help the SPTA could provide but at no time did she intend to mean for the SPTA to provide for the whole communication system. Also, the project will have to be presented to the school board for approval and recommendations. Mrs. Piper concluded, “It is premature to make any decisions at this point.”
The meeting was then turned over to Superintendent Robert Estabrook and Assistant Superintendent Thomas Campbell for an overview of the high school capital outlay plan.
After the presentation, a discussion was held about how the SPTA could assist the passage of the plan. Mrs. Harris will head up an effort to do everything possible to see that this happens. She said, “Our primary concerns are to be assured that the capital building project at the high school becomes a reality. Of particular concern to the SPTA is being sure that a public hearing is held in a timely fashion so that the Virginia State Literary Loan can be accepted when it becomes available for the high school project.”
The next SPTA meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 2.
