The School Board will begin whittling away next week at the deficit in the building expansion program for Rappahannock County High School.
The $1.5 million construction project was approved for a low interest state literary loan in June, 1985, and Rappahannock County went on the waiting list for actual award of the money. That money came almost 21/2 years later. The project was put out for bids. Two weeks ago, the bids were opened, and the lowest bid came in at $1,658,000 - $158,000 more than the School Board has to spend in its literary loan.
At Tuesday night’s board meeting, architect Bob Simpson came back to report on the first round of negotiations with Baughan Construction of Luray, the bidder with the lowest base price.
