Kindergarten
registration
All children are eligible to enter school in 1987 if they are five years of age by Oct. 31. This is in accordance with changes in school entrance age enacted by the 1985 General Assembly.
Registration for children who are entering kindergarten for the first time this fall will be held at Rappahannock County Elementary School on Tuesday, March 24, and Wednesday, March 25, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. by appointment. This may be arranged by calling the school at 987-8259. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Virginia law requires that parents of children who will reach five years of age after Sept. 30 and on or before Oct. 31, 1987, be counseled by school division personnel on the advisability of their children entering kindergarten.
Parents of children who will be five years of age after Oct. 31 and on or before Dec. 31 may request that their children enter school. In such cases, children will be tested to determine whether or not they are ready for kindergarten.
In order that proper planning be done for material and staffing, it is essential that all kindergarten children be registered on March 24 and 25. Questions should be addressed to the elementary school office and appointments arranged accordingly.
