The Rappahannock Anti-Litter League and You (RALLY!) is planning a Spring Clean-up Day, March 28, which it hopes will eliminate some of the county’s biggest litter eyesores; and at the same time create a greater public awareness of Rappahannock’s litter problem.
Litter Coordinator John McCarthy said that plans for the clean-up day are progressing well, and a meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, March 19 at 7 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Public Library to coordinate the effort.
The March 28 cleanup will begin with participants meeting at 10 a.m. at the Rappahannock Recreation Center on Rt. 211 outside Washington. Groups will head out to the designated clean-up sites from there. It is scheduled to last until 2 p.m.
He asked that leaders of volunteer groups who plan to assist in the clean-up fry to attend the meeting so that RALLY can get a general idea of how many people will be available. If it is not possible for anyone to attend the meeting, Mr. McCarthy asked that a representative from the group contact his office (6753342) and give him that information.
Mr. McCarthy said that residents are also urged to either attend the meeting, or call the office, to let RALLY know where the county’s biggest problem areas are.
“I really hope that we can get good participation - not just the kids but the adults as well,” he said.
