There are other ways, some perhaps faster and cheaper, to build a fence, but there is a distinction about that quarter mile of glistening white which properly frames the generous gift of Captain and Mrs. Stuart.
Even before the last nail was driven a bronze plaque in honor of Capt. Stuart was placed on a foundation laid by Louis (Butch) Zindel, and framed in mortar and brick laid by Mr. Hines, Jerry Curtis’ fatherin-law.

The memorial, and the field, was formally dedicated July 5,1986, with Ruritan Club members and many friends in attendance. Guests of
honor included Mrs. Stuart, Delegate George Beard, Jackson District Supervisor J. Richard Latham, Rev. Paul Franklin, Aubrey Curtis (charter
member and first Amissville club president), and the club’s 1986 president, Jerry Curtis.
