Governor Gerald L. Baliles has signed a proclamation recognizing the week of March 15-21 as Agriculture Week in Virginia.

He noted, in remarks made at the signing ceremony, that agriculture is one of Virginia’s foremost industries. In addition to providing thousands of jobs, agriculture generates $19 billion in direct and indirect economic activity in the Commonwealth.

Although not a part of the Agriculture in Virginia recognition, President Reagan has designated Friday, March 20, as Agriculture Day. The day is recognized annually
