A polite but unenthusiastic ‘interesting” was the reaction to Monday’s Board of Supervisors’ meeting from youngsters in the Rappahannock Elementary School’s gifted and talented program.
“All they do is motion each other and second each other,” observed Patrick O’Meara.
“At least we got to miss classes!” added Sherrie Burke, with a mischievous grin. “No, it’s interesting,” she corrected, “but it got boring, too.”
An informal poll of the fifth, sixth and seventh graders who filled the hard courtroom benches for two hours found the kids excited by only one agenda item: the countywide clean-up day set for March 28. (Admittedly, it may not have been a statistically valid sampling, since the imminent departure of school buses allowed time for canvassing only four students.)
