for the 1987-88 school year, Mr. Estabrook proposed that only three of those positions be filled and the other two eliminated.
According to the superintendent, projected enrollment at RCES for next year is 567. (Enrollment stood at 555 at the end of April. And the kindergarten projection of 75 for the coming year is based on registration received in March; a second registration period is set for early this summer.)
The reduction in force would give RCES 26 regular classroom teaching positions and an average of 21.4 students per class in kindergarten through seventh grade, the actual numbers ranging from a low of 17 to a high of 25.1 coming in next year’s
