Most Virginians are unconcerned about contracting AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome,) a condition associated primarily with intravenous drug users and homosexuals but recently spreading into the heterosexual population.
But many Virginians believe an AIDS epidemic is at hand, according to the poll. While 63 percent of Virginians said they aren’t worried about contracting the condition, 75 percent said it is “likely” that there will be an AIDS epidemic.
