The Gid Brown Bible Church in Washington was the setting at 2 in the afternoon of May 30 for the wedding of Judy Ann Burke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John K. Burke Jr. of Washington, to Steven David Alther, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Alther of Sperryville.
The bride’s father, Pastor Burke, Rev. Vinton Williams and Rev. Kirby Shenk performed the ceremony. Music was presented by Carter Galentine, who played wedding music and sang "0 Glorious Love” and “Wedding Prayer.” Daniel Breeden played “How Great Thou Art" on the trumpet.
Given in marriage by her father, John K. Burke, the bride wore a lacy romantic bridal gown with a scooped neckline flounced and adorned with simulated pearls. The bodice was filled with a slightly raised basque waistline. Puffed sleeves were elasticized above ruffled flounces. The lace-bordered skirt extended into a chapel length train.
Her lace-trimmed fingertip veil fell from a lace bridal cap with simulated pearls. She carried a Bible with a bouquet of pink roses, miniature carnations, statice, baby’s breath and green ivy.
