Valley Cycle Center of Winchester had donated the motorcycles to be used by participants in the beginner’s course and Winchester HarleyDavidson donated the helmets.

Teaching the course will be three local cyclists, John Hawse, John Hartsell and Martin Gavis, who have been certified by the DMV as Motorcycle Rider Safety instructors.

An added benefit for trained riders is that many insurance companies offer discounts for riders who complete either of the courses. DMV suggests that riders ask their insurance agent for details.

To register for the Beginner’s Course scheduled for July 24 to 26, call the Office of Continuing Education at 869-1120. Preregistration is required.
