In the current fiscal year, the chapter’s quota has been lifted to more than 1500 units and the bloodmobile is scheduled to appear at 25 locations, including The Plains, where it has never been, and Rappahannock County High School. A special blood drive for summer school students, held July 10 at Fauquier High School, yielded a disappointing nine units. It had been scheduled in the hope that it would “help alleviate a critical shortage we’re experiencing this summer,” according to Cindy Hamade, blood services representative from Central Virginia.
