July is also unofficially the month Of festivals in State Parks as three of the most popular are featured the. same weekend. On Friday, July 17 ’ through Sunday, July 19, Hungry Mother will host its fourteenth annual arts and crafts festival. This is the longest running of the festivals hosted by Virginia State Parks. Clearly, the most popular festival hosted by the parks is the Pork, Peanut and Pine Festival held July 17-18 at Chippokes Plantation State Park in Surry. The Festival was recently named one of the twenty best festivals in the Southeast United States by the Southeast Tourism Committee. Occoneechee State Park will also become part of Clarksville’s Lakefest activities as the host of the annual fish fry and fireworks display of Saturday, July 18.
