Lord Fairfax Community College has been approved by the Division of Motor Vehicles to offer the Virginia Rider Training Program. The program was established by the 1984 General Assembly to improve rider skills and reduce the number and severity of motorcycle accidents.
The college will offer the Motorcycle Rider course for beginners this month. The Experienced Rider course for motorcyclists with some riding experience will be offered in late September.
New riders receive hands-on experience and practice on protected off-street driving ranges during 20 hours of classroom and driving range instruction. The next beginners class is scheduled for July 24 to 26 from 6 until 10 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The fee for the course is $26.
