Williams Jr., Chairman of Rappahannock’s ASCS Committee, announced that sign-up for the 1988 wheat program will extend from Oct. 19 through April 1,1988.

Sign-up dates for the remaining 1988 commodity programs, feed grains, will be announced later. However, these sign-ups also will end April 1,1988.

There will be a required 27.5 percent acreage reduction plus the following wheat program provisions:

• Under the 50/92 provision, grazing of designated conservation-use land will be permitted upon the request of State Agricultural and Conservation Committees. Haying will not be permitted except under emergency conditions.

• Offsetting compliance will not apply.

• The established target price is $4.29 per bushel, the statutory minimum, and down 2 percent from the 1987 target price.
