August. During one 18-day period in July, only 0.33 inch of precipitation fell.
By contrast, the dry spell during spring 1986 was broken as the summer progressed. In July, 4.18 inches fell, followed by another 4.56 inches in August.
Based on Mr. Wingfield’s observations, it appears that the only thing that can be said with certainty about the county’s weather, and the extended forecasts which are becoming more popular, is that they’re anybody’s guess.
