that I welcome anyone to examine.
Finally, the things Mrs. Baines pointed out as needing to be done during their planning period (IEP meetings, etc.) are all things that K3 teachers have had to stay after school to do. They have doubled their classes to allow a break on the day that they, don’t have PE, music d or library. In the past, the 4-7 grade ; » teachers have had their lunch break, \ PE every day and on some days a second break for music or library. This new schedule will put their free time on an equal basis for K-3 teachers.
In conclusion, it is true that 4-7 grade students need physical activity every day both in school and at home after school. The socializing that those students have expected to do in my class can be done during their recess or classroom PE time. This will allow me to have a greater impact and a higher quality PE program. This change in curriculum is still not an ideal situation. Until another PE teacher is added, the School Board will be faced with the expense and time required to interview and hire new PE teachers to replace the ones who invariably bum out after three or four years.
