As well as his private clients, Mr. Griswold is also well-known for his magazine covers. His work, in both pastels and oils, has appeared in most major horse publications, including The Blood Horse, The Florida Horse, and The Chronicle of the Horse. While in Rappahannock, Mr. Griswold visited The Chronicle’s offices in Middleburg to discuss an upcoming cover, which will appear later this fall.
And his work is well represented on both sides of the Atlantic as well. He did a painting of Queen Elizabeth’s filly as a sample for a gallery in England, and four of his limited edition prints hang in the National Museum of Racing in Saratoga Springs, N. Y.
Sine€ their winters are spent in Ocala, Fla., the heart of the state’s horse country, and their summers in Ocean City, N. J., the Griswolds don’t spend as much time at shows as they used to. Despite that, Mr. Griswold is booked through next soring.
