tween) before my 30-minute lunch break. Then I will teach four more 30-minute classes and one 15-minute class which ends right at 3 o’clock. I am not complaining. What matters to me is seeing these students on a more individual basis, not in groups of 45-60. ..

Second, as long as I’ve been here, no one has ever asked to see my scores from the physical fitness tests. They have never been made public and few parents have even asked to see their child’s scores. Therefore, I don’t know how Mrs. Eastham can say our scores are declining and the requirements have been raised.

The requirements have not been raised. In fact there is no criterion for graduation based on a fitness score. The test format will change somewhat this year, but that is all. I have found that most students improve their scores from fall to spring. This is probably due to several factors: normal growth and development, learning the mechanics of a particular test, motivation, attitude, weather, health and increase in fitness.

True, there are some kids who will never pass any of the tests, but I still see improvement in their scores. I will begin compiling a list of all fitness scores (names excluded)
