The Virginia Department of Transportation has an opening for Office Services Assistant (Timekeeper) at the Warrenton Residency, Rappahannock Headquarters. Duties: Records and forwards timesheets for employees, equipment, and hired trucks for an area headquarters. Maintains records of carrying balances for maintenance and construction budgets and other special items, i.e., accounts receivable on accidents damaging state property, contract work by other state organizations receiving equipment, stock, and employee time. Prepares and processes stock issues of materials. Receives charge numbers from maintenance areas for inmate utilization and records. Records and forwards employee leave requests. Answers incoming calls; acts as radio dispatcher; answers direct police telephone line for complaints from police; responds to complaints verbally or through referrals; assigns complaints to appropriate maintenance area for handling; answers incoming calls for snow removal operations. Maintains files on dispatch logs, timesheets, stock, inventories, equipment utilizations, daily reports, etc. Qualifications: Some knowledge of office practices, porcedures, and current office equipment; of manual and auotmated alphabetic, numeric and other generally accepted filing systems; of standard English grammar, punctuation, and usage; and of basic computational arithmetic. Working skill in keyboarding commensurate with work assigned. Demonstrated ability to interpret and follow oral and written rules and regulations; to maintain harmonious working and public relations; to learn operation of office equipment as changes occur; to collect and assemble information. Graduation from high school or equivalent combination of training and dftperience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge, skills, and abilities. Salary: $12,270 - $16,752 (Grade 4)
