One injury
in accident
A serious accident on Rt. 211 outside Washington Friday evening left only one person injured, but according to witnesses that was due to the occupants of the vehicle wearing their seatbelts. “They were very lucky” was the consensus of several people who had witnessed the accident.
A report filed by Trooper R. A. Baines stated that a 1984 Chevrolet pick-up driven by Michael K. Krajnik, 25, of Newport News, was eastbound on Rt. 211 when it was struck in the side by a car driven by Mrs. Lula K. Peterson, 79, of Washington, who was crossing Rt. 211 headed south on Rt. 826.
Mr. Krajnik told Trooper Baines that he swerved to avoid Mrs. Peterson’s car, but she still struck him. His pick-up skidded and flipped over, coming to rest on its wheels facing west in the eastbound lane. Mr. Krajnik’s wife, Jane, was in
