Mrs. Thurman Whorton of Flint Hill is pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of her daughter Norma Jean to Matthew Donald Shaw.
Mr. Shaw is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Shaw of Albuquerque, N. M.
Ms. Whorton is a graduate of Rappahannock County High School and Eastern New Mexico University.
Mr. Shaw is a graduate of Rio Grande High School and is currently serving in the United States Marine Corps.
The wedding is planned for Oct. 24.
Car show
set Sept. 27
in The Plains
Waddell’s Service Center in The Plains plans its first rod run or car show from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sept. 27, at The Plains firehouse lot.
Owners of street machines and street rods are encouraged to participate. Organizer Herbie Waddell expects 60 to 80 cars. Trophies will be given for the best street machine, best in show, best interior and best paint.
The event will benefit The Plains Volunteer Fire Department. If the show is successful, Mr. Waddell will plan a two-day event next year.
