Sports clinics
set for fall
A soccer clinic for women and volleyball clinics for teens and adults will be offered during the fall session of programs by the Fauquier County Parks and Recreation Department.
The soccer clinic, for women age 18 and older, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fauquier High School. Taught by Chip Rohr, varsity soccer coach at Osbourn High School, the clinic will stress basic skills, rules, tactics and strategies and is open to league participants, mothers of players, or those who simply desire a better understanding of the game of soccer. Cost for the clinic is $10 for county residents and $12 for non-residents.
Also on Sept. 19 at Fauquier High School, a volleyball clinic for teens, ages 12-17, will take place from 9 a.m. to noon. Instruction, by Ed Niko, will focus on refinement of basic power volleyball skills for all levels of play. Cost is $5 for residents, $6 for non-residents.
A weekly clinic for adults, also instructed by Ed Niko, will be offered every Friday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Warrenton Junior High School. The program will run for eight weeks, from Sept. 25 through Nov. 13, and will include refinement of skills, drills, individualized«instruction, and scrimmage Wne. Players may register individually or as a team (up to six players). Cost is $10/$12 (resident/non-resident) for individuals or $50/$60 for teams. Participants may also drop in weekly for $2/$2.50 for individuals or $10/$12 for teams.
