Rappahannock Newt photos/Lou Hatter THE STREAM USED TO flow along the roadbed at left. A dirt berm at center diverted the stream to a channel on the right. It now crosses the road at the top left of the photo. According to Mr. Neal, the mud in the road is caused by the road being a natural sump.
