to use an income protection plan offered by Mutual of Omaha in addition to the plan currently offered by the county. Dr. Gangel said the new plan is both cheaper and more flexible. The program is financed by a three percent contribution from each teacher’s salary, so the option of using the new plan does not affect the county’s budgetary process.
• Approved proposed fundraising activities by the seventh grade in preparation for its class trip in the spring. State directives do restrict such activities, Dr. Gangel emphasized. No door-to-door soliciting may be done by students, he said.
• Tentatively set a school/community open house for Thursday, Oct. 8, or Oct. 15. Dr. Gangel suggested the reception as a way for new staff members to get to know the community and discover those members who might be available'as resources.
