Earl Kilby
Earl Joseph Kilby, 77, of Belle Meade Farm, Sperryville, died Sept. 11 at his residence after a short illness.
Mr. Kilby was born in Rappahannock County on April 3, 1910, the son of the late Walter and Margaret Yowell Kilby. He was a member of the F. T. Baptist Church and a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife Ruth Burt Kilby of Sperryville, two daughters, Betty Lowry of Mechanics ville and Jane Meier of Elkwood, a son Dr. Walter B. Kilby of Culpeper, a sister Margaret Tyus of Richmond, a brother Irvin Reynolds Kilby of Sperryville, and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Sept. 13 at the F. T. Baptist Church by the Rev. Douglas Farmer, pastor. Interment was at the Fairview Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fluid of the F. T. Baptist Church.
Emma Peck
Emma Elizabeth Peck, 72, a native of Rapphannock, died Sept. 13 at the Rainbow Nursing Home in Bristow, Okla..
Mrs. Peck was born Jan. 26, 1915, in Washington, the daughter of Lester and Maggie Fincham. She was a cook and waitress at the Highway House Restaurant in Front Royal untQ she retired in 1972. She moved to Bristow in 1980 after the death of her husband Lee Andrew Peck.
Surviving are a son Joe Bennett of Bristow, three daughters, Rachel Price of Staunton, Patricia Jarmans of Culpeper and Joan Bennett of Muskogee, Okla., a brother Jack Fincham of Culpeper, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was conducted Sept. 15 at the Welty Cemetery by Rev. Leo Hawthorne.
Harold Meier Jr.
Harold Fred Meier Jr., 28, of Elkwood, died Aug. 26 at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville from injuries received in an auto accident.
A< native of Gary, Ind., Mr. . Meier had lived in Elkwood for many years. He was employed by J & M Trucking.
Survivors include his wife Jane Kilby Meier, a daughter Teresa Ann Meier, a son Jeffery Joseph Meier, his parents, Harold F. and Eunice Corbin Meier, all of Elkwood, two sisters, Sharon Kelchner of Mitchells and Rose Sawyer of Culpeper, a brother Todd Meier of Elkwood, and his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Corbin of Elkwood and Mrs. Wilmer Meier of Madison, Wise.
