die years, most Americans have accumulated so much plaque in their arteries that they are candidates for heart and blood vessel diseases.

Lowering the levels of cholestrol 1 and saturated fat in the diet can re- 1 duce one of the risks of coronary dis- 1 ease.

Two local grocers who have agreed to participate in the Food Festival are Randolph Clater of Sperryville Comer Store and Wilson Burke at the Flint Hill Store. During this week, these stores will have available informative materials provided for this event.

On Tuesday, Sept. 22, members of the Board of the Rappahannock Unit of the American Heart Association will be on hand at these stores to communicate the American Heart Association’s message about the importance of a low-fat diet in controlling risk factors for heart attack. There will be home-baked “heart healthy” foods made from recipes in the American Heart Association Cook Book for tasting and other helpful information on “heart healthy” diets will be distributed.

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 15 and continuing each Tuesday evening for six week, the Extension Service will provide classes in cooking “heart healthy” foods. These classes will be held in the Home Economics Department of the Rappahannock High School.

For further information on this, call Mrs. Sandra Richardson at the Extension office, 675-3619.
