third competition next weekend.
Some highlights of the dressage finals will be the Grand Prix competition on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5:30. Also, Prix St. Georges-level tests will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and Grand Prix freestyle, performed to music, will follow from 4:30 until 6:35 p.m.
Saturday evening an open party will be held, featuring a musical cabaret with dressage themes, dancing and a buffet.
In all, 15 championship classes will be held from first through Grand Prix levels. Competitors are expected from 20 states including New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts, Georgia and Texas.
Upper-level Virginia finalists will include Sue Madden Mandas of Herndon, the only Virginian competing at Grand Prix level, Mary Flood of Fairfax Station and Robin Archer of Keswick, both of whom will compete in Intermediate I.
The sport horse auction will start at 11 a.m. Sunday. Major Lingren’s clinic will extend over four days.
