Oratorio Society rehearsals set

The Front Royal Oratorio Society will begin its foil season rehearsals on Monday, Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Front Royal Methodist Church. Anyone interested in participating should either attend this meeting or call Mrs. Joan St. Clair at 675-3539 or Mrs. Hrbeke at 635-7964. Tenors are especially needed.
Woman’s Club to meet
The Rappahannock Woman’s Club will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. at the home of Sharon Ferrence near Amissville. All members are urged to attend.
Baldwin family reunion
The Baldwin family reunion will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, at Lake Arrow Head in Luray. Dinner will be served at 2 p.m.
Gospel sing workshop
RAAC’8 Artists’ Forum offers a unique opportunity for everyone with a secret longing to be a performing artist: “Gospel for Everyone.”
Ethel Caffie-Austin, known today as West Virginia’s finest gospel singer, will be in Rappahannock County Sept. 18 to conduct a workshop, including six hours of instruction and concluding with a performance in which Hie group will join her in concert. No previous experience is necessary.
Friday, Sept. 18, at Promise Land Baptist Church (1 mile down Rt. 622 off Rt. 211), beginning with a potluck supper, Ms. Caffie-Austin will meet with a group of amateur singers from 7 to 10 p.m. Cost is $8 per person. Rehearsal will be held from 10 to 4 on Saturday, culminating with a concert Saturday night at 8 at the Gay Street Theatre.
Ms. Caffie-Austin is the director of a choir in West Virginia whose reputation extends across the East Coast. She is known for the joy she takes in teaching and in her ability to create a gospel round in a few hours of work with a group of amateurs. Paul Reisler, of Trapezoid, says of Ethel: "She makes us remember that somewhere deep down we all know how to sing.”

Frazier family reunion
The Robert L. Frazier fondly reunion will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Rappahannock Park. All relatives and friends are invited. Lunch will be served at noon.
Culpeper Homemakers’ craft fair
Make plans to come out to the Culpeper County Extension Homemakers’ Annual Craft Fair on Oct. 3. It will be held in the Homemakers’ Building at Agricultural Enterprises on Route 29 one mile sought of town, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A wonderful selection of Original crafts, gifts and household items will be available. Home baked goodies and a lunch tent are part of the Fair. Lunch, too, will be a bargain. A hot dog, cole slaw and a cup of coffee will be $1. There will be chicken salad sandwiches, beef barbecues, pie, cup-cakes, lemonade and soft drinks at the lunch tent as well
Visit the Farmer’s Market and the Craft Sale on the first Saturday morning in October - there’s plenty of parking for all.
