In the business part of the meeting, presided over by Helen Fairfax, Regent plans were made for a bus trip to Philadelphia on October 9. The bus will leave from the Culpeper Baptist church parking lot at 6:30 a.m. (everyone should bring a sandwich). From 12 to 5 p.m., those who go will have free time in Philadelphia to visit Independence Hall, Visitors Center, Christ Church, the Liberty Bell, Home of Betsy Ross, etc., ending with dinner at the Old Original Bookbinders Restaurant.
The cost is $30, on a first-come, first-served basis. Checks should be sent immediately to Agnes Puryear, Box 346, Madison, Va. 22727, telephone 948-4382. First preference will be given to members of the DAR.
Mrs. John S. Board, Chairman for “Constitution Week” Sept. 17-23, reported on activities which will be going on that week. On the afternoon of Sept. 17 at exactly 4 p.mM all church bells and others with bells are being asked to ring them for 200 seconds, signifying the 200 years on that date since the Constitution was signed. Anyone wanting information about this should contact Mrs. Fairfax at 676-3556.
