The most recently named students bring to 16 the total number of Wakefield seniors who have, in the past seven years, earned the distinction of being National Merit Semifinalists. With four semifinalists out bf a class of only 28 last year, Wakefield had the highest percentile of National Merit Semifinalists of any school in Virginia.
In addition to the semifinalisti, five Wakefield seniors have been named National Merit Commended Students. These students scored in the top two percent of graduating seniors in the nation. Included m this category are: Merren Booth of Vienna; Nicola Datta of Warrenton? Carey Maar of Front Royal; Matthew Tucker of Warrenton; and Joshua Yowell of Virginia Beach.
