Rappahannock County residents will be able to request assistance with their federal income tax returns with the help of two programs sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is for low-income, handicapped and non-English speaking individuals who file the 1040A or 1040EZ forms, or who qualify for the Earned Income Credit. Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) provides assistance for taxpayers above the age of 60.

The counselors providing services under the auspices of the two programs have completed training courses given by the IRS. The tax-assistance sites for Rappahannock County residents are:
