wood. Put the bleach in a small glass jar and use a stiff-bristled brush to apply it to stained areas. DO NOT MIX BLEACH WITH ANYTHING BUT WATER! Rinse well to avoid leaving a residue.
Make sure there is adequate ventilation when using any household chemicals or cleaners. Rubber gloves are also a good idea, as is eye protection to guard against accidental splashes - always a possibility
when applying or scrubbing a liquid cleaner.
And, allow time for the fireplace to dry completely before using. Cool, wet stone or brick surfaces may crack if suddenly heated by a fire.
