CRP program

A Conservation Reserve Propram (CRP) sipn-up bepan Monday, Feb. 1, and will end Feb. 19. The CRP is an excellent way for a fanner to take “hiphly erodible land” out of annually tilled crops. The farmer must submit a bid to place land in the CRP. The land does not have to be cropped at present, as long as it was cropped twice for 1981-85.
The farmer submits a bid or an annual rental payment. If approved, that farmer would receive that amount for 10 years. The land must remain idle for 10 years and may not be hayed or prazed for the duration of the contract.
