Mr. Goodine is a member of the oldest craft organization in this country, the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen. Founded in the late 1930s by a former Rhode Island School of Design administrator, the League will soon celebrate its 56th anniversary.
Mr. Goodine knows of no other organization like the League. “It’s a unique system of 10 stores containing various crafts,” he explained. “After a person joins and has made something which he wants to sell in one of the stores, his work is juried by that store to determine if it meets with strict rules of quality.” To be permitted to sell in all 10 stores, the craftsman is juried by the state. -
“It really is important — the League’s policy of high standards. Customers come to the stores expecting to pay top dollar for hand-crafted items that are well-known for their quality.”
Mr. Goodine has been crafting fine metals for 20 years since learning the craft at a League shop at Exeter North
