Criminals and murderers will always find a way to steal or illegally buy fireartns to commit their crimes. Reputable dealers are not on their supply list. Price is no object for them, except the price they pay when they are caught—heavy jail time or execution. Our courts and our law enforcement officers are our only protection against the violent misuse of guns.

In the meantime honest citizens who purchase firearms from legitimate dealers for protection of their homes, property, or as collectors wind up paying the price with bureaucratic paperwork.

Law enforcement officials across the Commonwealth appear to be split in their evaluation of this Senate Bill, and legitimate firearms dealers see this bill as a nightmare of paper.

In the end, protection of human life is the bottom line. However, do not be fooled—this bill is not the answer. Stronger law enforcement and heavy courtroom penalties are required.

I welcome your opinion on this and other issues before us in the remaining two weeks.
