For the third year Virginians will be able to take advantage of computer technology and file their federal tax returns electronically.
“Electronic filing is referred to as ‘The Wave of the Future’ and since its start the wave has grown in size and strength each year. This year Virginia is one of 36 states to participate in the program,” Jack Petrie, Virginia’s district director said.
Electronic filing is a system that allows participating filers to transmit an individual’s tax return data over telephone lines from their office computers to an IRS Service Center. Most of the common tax forms are included in the program.. The main requirement is that the return show a refund due to the individual.
