Mr. Zindel said in the late 1980s land and home prices saw an increase. “Land prices were about 10 to 15 percent overpriced while homes were about 15 to 30 percent overpriced,” he said.
The recession brought things more into perspective.
“Residential prices have come down 10 to 15 percent,” Alvin Henry of Mount Vernon Realty in Warrenton said. Mr. Henry spends nearly 70 percent of his time appraising property for sale and resale and is familiar with land and residential values.
