“We have had a great deal of activity," Jean Lillard, broker and Realtor of Roy Wheeler Realty Co. in Warrenton said. “Activity in the sense that more are responding to advertisments in local newspapers and we have more serious prospects,” she said.
Ms. Lillard referred to the latest recession as a “leveling part of the typical real estate market,” adding the “inflated prices of 1987-88” are coming down. “Smart money is investing in real estate,” she said, adding as sure as the prices come down, “prices will go up.”
“A smart buy is to take advantage of today’s market,” she said.

Farm program participants who underplant their maximum payment acreage for wheat, feed grains upland cotton and rice could receive deficiency payments on the underplanted acres, according to the Rappahannock Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS).
To qualify forthe payments of up to 92 percent of the maximum payment acreage, farmers should devote all or part of the land to conservation use.
