Three Rappahannock High School students will be participating in the state science fair in Richmond this weekend after winning awards in the regional fair last month.
Amy Kellert won first place in microbiology for her project testing the effectiveness of several mouthwashes in killing bacteria.
She also won the Army Science Award for her entry in the regional fair and a $50 savings bond.
Lisa Manwaring took first place in environmental science for her project testing the effects of various ground covers in preventing soil erosion.
Keith Switzer received second place in biochemistry for his project of testing several soft drinks for sugar content.
