ment under the Virginia Retirement System are eligible to retire now and receive credit for an additional five years of work in computing their benefit. They will also receive an additional $100 per month until age 62.
Under the regular retirement system an employee had to be 55 years old and have 30 years employment covered by the retirement system to be eligible for full pension rights.
The school system will be required to pay additional monies into the retirement system for the next 20 years to pay back the additional retirement the former employees will be receiving.
