belted out a medley of great American show tunes, with Virginia Gingrich on piano. Ms. Johnson’s vocal range and singing strength are something to behold, and 6he selected music that demonstrated her considerable gifts.
The highlight of the evening, following intermission, was the presentation of two scenes from William Shakespeare’s “As You Like It,” featuring Mr. Coon, Jody Carbone, Mike Mahoney, Susan Estes, Miss Foster and Ms. Pehrson-Day. Shakespeare being, of course, our greatest English playwright, the cast deserves considerable credit for simply attempting the production. Mr. Carbone, in particular, handled his lines with “clarity and the inflection that Shakepeare’s humor requires. Susan Estes, starring as the lovecrossed Rosalind, also deserves praise.
