The Planning District 9 Drug Task Force last week performed its first anti-narcotics operation in Rappahannock County, raiding the home of a Sperryville man, according to Sheriff John H. Woodward.
Agents from the PD-9 Task Force executed a search warrant at 11 p.m. Aug. 23 at the home of Frank Pullen of Sperryville on U.S. 622, one mile south of the village, said the sheriff. One ' pound of marijuana, worth about $1,800; $610 in cash and an unspecified number of weapons were seized, said Sheriff Woodward. Charges against Pullen are pending, he added.
Sheriff Woodward said the search was the result of a tip from a confidential informant. Deputies from the Rappahannock and Culpeper sheriff’s offices and state troopers participated in the search.
The drug task force consists of police from sheriff’s offices in Rappahannock, Madison, Orange, Fauquier and Culpeper, town police from Gordonsville, Orange, Warrenton and Culpeper and the Virginia State Police. Since June 1 the task force has seized $107,000 worth of drugs and $9,000 in cash, said Sheriff Woodward.
