The Rappahannock Republican Party in their mass meeting Tuesday night proposed a resolution on abortion that called for “this problem to be resolved by individual moral responsibility.”
The resolution will be sent to the conventions that will nominate Republican candidates for the 31st House of Delegates seat, the 26th Senate District seat, and the 25th Senate District seat.
The resolution was adopted unanimously by the 13 citizens attending the mass meeting. The complete resolution states:
“The controversial issue of abortion must be faced by every political party and voter. We agree that the indiscriminate use of abortion as a method of birth control is wrong. Most of us also agree that in a few instances; to save a mother’s life, in cases of rape or incest, and where the fetus is seriously deformed, abortion is the better choice.
“Therefore, we urge that, to the greatest extent possible, this problem be resolved by individual moral responsibility.”
Following the adoption of the resolution, Hugh Chrisman commented, “That question should be left out of politics completely.”
