As shorter days lead into cooler nights, and summer vacations are behind us, it is back to work. .. business as usual.. with one exception,..
Labor Day... our annual “mini-vacation"... an opportunity to enjoy the luxury of sleeping late on a workday, and a chance to soak up some end-of-summer sun.
Cast your eyes in all directions. Above us are construction workers erecting skyscrapers. In other structures nearby, minds and machines whirr... our executive and clerical strength in action. Below us are those who labor underground as they mine our natural resources; and all around us is our labor force, giving of strength and intellect, compassion and courage.
Reward yourselves on Labor Day, your day, for the tasks you perform and the services you render each day. Moreover, may we remember to give thanks to God as we worship Him on His day, each Sabbath; for our Heavenly Father has blessed us with those resources with which we labor throughout the year.
