Changes proposed by Gov. L. Douglas Wilder Dec. 2 to the General Assembly congressional redistricting plan would move the 10th district farther down into the Shenandoah Valley and puts all of Rappahannock into the 10th.
The changes, however, would have almost no affect on Northern Virginia, leaving the redrawn 8th and 11th districts intact. The Assembly is likely to sign off on the proposal, according to Sen. Charles Waddell (D-Loudoun/Fairfax).
“I don’t have a problem with (the changes) and I think they’ll be adopted by the Assembly,” Sen. Waddell said. The assembly will vote on the changes Dec. 9.
The 10th district would still include all of Fauquier, Loudoun, Clarke, Warren, and Frederick counties and parts of Fairfax and Prince William, but would also pick up all of Rappahannock County, Frederick County, Shenandoah
