A Flint Hill woman suffered serious injuries during an auto accident at 4:15 p.m. Nov. 24 in Flint Hill, according to Sgt. G.A. Morris of the State Police.
Lynn Kerr, 43, was operating a 1984 Honda southbound on Route 659, three-tenths of a mile north of Route 628, when she ran off the left side of the road and hit an embankment, said Sgt. Morris.
Her injuries were serious and a Pegasus helicopter transported her from the scene.
She was charged with reckless driving by Trooper G.T. Settle.
In other police news this week:
• Helen Caison, 42, of Front Royal was charged with reckless driving after an auto accident on U.S. 211, three-tenths of a mile west of Route 729, at 3:15 a.m. Nov. 29, according to Sgt. Morris.
She was operating a 1991 Dodge westbound on U.S. 211 when she apparently lost control, ran off the right, hit a tree and then hit a fence, said Sgt. Morris.
The Dodge was destroyed, and damage was done to the fence, owned by Thomas Eastham.
Trooper S.M. Knick placed charges, said Sgt. Morris.
• The Thanksgiving traffic was relatively uneventful in Rappahannock, said Sgt. Morris. Diming the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, the State Police keeps at least 75 percent of its manpower on duty.
Sgt. Morris said next week starts Drunk and Drugged Driving Awareness Week, and the State Police will continue to focus on the problem through the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
Last year 1,071. people were killed in highway accidents in Virginia. Of that total, 535 deaths were alcohol-related.
• Clarence Alger, 44, of Luray, was charged with reckless driving after a one-vehicle accident Nov. 21.
According to Virginia State Trooper S.M. Knick, Alger was eastbound on U.S. 211, one mile west of Route,613, when his 1974 Chevrolet pickup truck ran off
