It would be quite a shock to discover that your life was limited and that you must prepare your friends and family for the inevitable.

Hospice of the Rapidan, partially supported by Piedmont United Way, has supported over 350 patients and families through this preparation with physical, emotional, and spiritual care. The Hospice supports Rappahannock and surrounding counties.

Hospice’s volunteers have not increased in number as patient needs meet an all time high census. Many patients do not have the volunteer support that they need. Many need assistance with picking up prescriptions, grocery shopping, and delivering wheelchairs. Some need transportation to doctor’s appointments.

Flint Hill Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company 4 is sponsoring a benefit drawing. Chances are being sold for a 25-inch RCA color TV, and second prize is a child’s family room furniture set with a Redskins theme.

Tickets are available from any Co. 4 member and cost $1, or six for $5.

The winners will be drawn at the fire company’s Dec. 21 Christmas breakfast.
